Peter is passionate about teaching with mobile devices and believes that they can transform learning across the curriculum. He has a strong interest in coding and has worked with students as a Digital Technology and STEAM Specialist on a diverse range of creative projects including Sphero, green screen, stop motion animation and Minecraft.
He has over 25 years experience in primary and secondary education and is the creator of Teaching with the iPad website and YouTube channel. He has also developed and managed a school iPad program of around 90 devices.
Peter’s most notable publications to date are ‘Creating Stories with ScratchJr’ and ‘Teaching with the iPad’ which focuses on the pedagogy of using the iPad in the classroom.
In 2015 Peter became an Apple Distinguished Educator as recognition for his work in this field and was selected to speak as a showcase presenter at the 2017 ADE Academy in Melbourne, Australia. He has spoken at a number of conferences including EduTECH (Sydney) , i-Educate (Brisbane) and TECHpalooza on the Gold Coast.
Peter was selected in the inaugural Sphero Hero ambassador program and has a keen interest in the area of robotics. In 2018 he also became a Book Creator Ambassador for his work with students creating digital books. In 2022 Peter was awarded the Peter Doherty Award for teaching excellence in STEAM.
In 2023 Peter qualified as an Apple Professional Learning Specialist consulting to schools one day a week. To contact him or find out more information go to peterabtedtech.com.
